Intel Reveals Initial 9000-Series Coffee Lake SKUs

Intel has recently published the specs for some of their initial 9000-series Coffee Lake SKUs. Like the prior 8000-series models, those parts appear to also be branded as “8th Generation Core”, thereby breaking the long-standing tradition of matching the Generation number with the SKU numbering scheme.

Specifications

Though we have known about Intel’s Coffee Lake Refresh plans for a while now, we finally have some initial specs.

9000-Series Specs
Model TDP S-Spec C Base Turbo Graphics
Tier Base Turbo
i3-9000 65 W SR3XN 4 3.7 GHz 3.7 GHz GT2 350 MHz 1.10 GHz
i3-9000T 35 W SR3ZC 4 3.2 GHz 3.2 GHz GT2 350 MHz 1.10 GHz
i3-9100 65 W SR3XQ 4 3.7 GHz 3.7 GHz GT2 350 MHz 1.10 GHz
i5-9400 65 W SR3X5 6 2.9 GHz 4.1 GHz GT2 350 MHz 1.05 GHz
i5-9400T 35 W SR3X8 6 1.8 GHz 3.4 GHz GT2 350 MHz 1.05 GHz
i5-9500 65 W SR3XG 6 3.0 GHz 4.3 GHz GT2 350 MHz 1.10 GHz
i5-9600 65 W SR3X2 6 3.1 GHz 4.5 GHz GT2 350 MHz 1.15 GHz
i5-9600K 95 W SR3WZ 6 3.7 GHz 4.5 GHz GT2 350 MHz 1.15 GHz

As with the prior 8000-series, all models are socket LGA-1151. Core i3s support up to dual-channel DDR4 memory with rates up to 2400 MT/s with the Core i5s supporting rates of up to 2666 MT/s. It’s currently not confirmed if any of those parts have hyper-threading enabled. However, since the L3 cache sizes are identical to their 8000-series counterparts, it’s strong evidence that SMT will not be enabled across the lineup.

9000-Series vs 8000-Series
9000-Series   8000-Series
Model Cores Base Turbo   Model Cores Base Turbo
i3-9000 4 3.7 GHz 3.7 GHz   i3-8000 4 3.6 GHz 3.6 GHz
i3-9000T 4 3.2 GHz 3.2 GHz   i3-8000T 4 3.1 GHz 3.1 GHz
i3-9100 4 3.7 GHz 3.7 GHz   i3-8100 4 3.6 GHz 3.6 GHz
i5-9400 6 2.9 GHz 4.1 GHz   i5-8400 6 2.8 GHz 4.0 GHz

i5-9600 6 3.1 GHz 4.5 GHz   i5-8600 6 3.1 GHz 4.3 GHz
i5-9600K 6 3.7 GHz 4.5 GHz   i5-8600K 6 3.6 GHz 4.3 GHz

What’s clearly missing from the table are the rumored 8-core coffee lake parts but we do expect them to be announced at Gamescom at the end of August.
