Arm Refreshes The Cortex-A510, Squeezes Higher Efficiency

Last year Arm introduced an all-new ultra-high efficiency little core – the Cortex-A510 which succeeded the Cortex-A55.

This article is part of a series of articles covering Arm’s Client Tech Day 2022.

Offering a brand new core microarchitecture along with a Core Complex along with a merged core design, the A510 simultaneously brought a significant IPC uplift while reducing power. The A510 also became the first little core to also introduce the ARMv9.0 ISA as well as SVE and SVE2 support.

Today, Arm is announcing a refresh of the Cortex-A510. Compared to the exact same core introduced last year, the updated core is said to offer a 5% reduction in power at iso-process. The better power efficiency comes without compromise to the performance and area. Moving forward, all new designs that utilize the Cortex-A510 should be taking advantage of the refreshed core and its higher efficiency.

Looking forward, Arm has a next-generation, codenamed Hayes, planned for the near future.
