Photonics Chiplet Inches Towards Production

For nearly half a decade Ayar Labs has been working on introducing a step-function improvement in the I/O bandwidth of integrated circuits. The company has been working on making optical I/O technology a viable successor to traditional copper signaling. through silicon photonics. We have been following the startup for a while now from their DARPA roots and through their work on their first product - TeraPHY. The TeraPHY chiplet is their effort to introduce direct SoC integration through co-packaging.
